Situated in Burpengary, on the Sunshine Coast, this large residential block required a complete design and construction package from Tropiscapes. Advanced Phoenix canariensis act as focal points for each of the three main areas.

Two flank the wide driveway, and the third stands on the opposite end of the yard. Smaller palm species, like Dypsis cabadae and Adonidia merrillii form border planting along the front boundary, with smaller tropical perennials as underplanting.

At the house entry, two large bromeliads add a sculptural element, with pebbles and mondo grass underneath. The beds adjacent, in front of the residence, have a foreground of aloes in pebble, and a background of larger plants and medium palms; Ptychosperma elegans.

At the extreme eastern end of the front yard, a large free-form garden was created for the client to experiment with their own plant selections, under a canopy of Wodyetia bifurcata, Randia fitzalanii and smaller palms.

Privacy for this space will be achieved with an eventual thick hedge of Radermachera 'Summerscent'.

The client initially approached us for a consultation. Ben conducted the site inspection, measuring & documenting the property, then discussing client visions and potential design direction. By the conclusion of the meeting, a concept was approved for development.

Following that initial consultation, Ben prepared a more detailed design, including area layout, planting schemes and materials finishes. On client approval, we proceeded to dramatically change the bleak. dusty site into a lush, inviting space. The client brief was addressed by hundreds of plants, significant quantities of soil and mulch, 400m2 of fresh turf. Additionally, hundreds of metres of irrigation lines were laid, assuring the design would thrive over the dry winter months.

We believe we have converted a desolate site into the best garden in the street, and we thoroughly enjoyed this job from concept to completion.
